TERRES DES HOMMES ITALIA ONLUS (Tdh-It)
is an international non-governmental organisation
based in Italy, 57 Viale Monza, and Milano. It aims
to provide direct and immediate help to children
in hardship. It was founded in 1994 and is a member
of the International Federation Terre des hommes
Federation. Tdh-It is registered with the Italian
Ministry of Foreign Affairs as a relief and development
agency. It operates in over twenty (22) developing
countries throughout the world.
Tdh-It works with local non-governmental agencies
to develop and manage emergency projects for immediate
relief and reconstruction as well as development
interventions targeting the concrete and immediate
needs of disadvantaged children. Its projects cover
education, health, socio-economic and production
needs. It aims to address the causes of distress
and poverty, encouraging self-help and self-development
at the same time.
VACANCIES:
1) CONSULTANT IN DISABILITY ISSUES
In the District of Hebron -Palestinian Territories,
Tdh It is going to implement a project aiming at:
“Enhancing access to rehabilitation and care
services of persons with disabilities, in particular
children, living in Yatta, Dura and Sa’irs
Towns and surrounding villages (OPT- Southern West
Bank)” phase 2
The project is implemented in partnership with
two experienced local organizations and will start
on September the 1st 2007.
Within this framework, Terre des hommes It is looking
for an International Consultant with broad experience
in disability issues, and CBR approach to support
its local team and its partners. The consultancy
contract shall include two missions of 11 days each
on the field and distance support to the Expatriate
Project Manager.
Previous similar experiences in Developing countries
are requested as well as references and a very good
command of English

2) Experienced Expatriate Project Manager with
a background in Agronomy for a three- year Food
Security Project to be implemented in Zimbabwe in
partnership with a local NGO.
Requested qualifications:
An University degree in Agronomy or Economy or Development.
An experience of at least three years in a similar
position in Developing countries.
In depth knowledge of the Project Cycle Management
including evaluation techniques
Excellent command of written and oral English
Proved reporting skills
Knowledge in depth of the EU procedures
Ability to coordinate and manage staff and project
activities
Strong organizational and supervisory skills;
Proven ability to work creatively and independently
both in the field and in the office;
Highly motivated and with a desire to work with
local communities;
Ability to work with culturally diverse groups of
people;
Ability to travel and work in difficult conditions
and under pressure;
Specific duties include:
• To set up, plan, supervise and monitor the
activities implementation;
• To manage and oversee the work of the technical
national staff.
• To assist with planning of project budgets
and ensure appropriate expenditure of budgets in
line with donor requirements;
• To liaise with all internal and external
counterparts of the project at field level;
• To assess the activities undertaken and
ensure efficient use of resources;
• To ensure that all project reporting (internal
and external) is completed in a timely and accurate
manner;
• To actively pursue contacts with local government
officials, and with INGO representatives on a regular
basis;
Working experiences in Africa are desirable. Written
references will be requested.
