Call for INTERNATIONAL VOLUNTEERS
Duty Station: Kathmandu, Nepal
Beginning: According to the preference of the candidate, in each case not before the first September 2010
Minimum/Maximum duration of the program: 3- 6 months
Society for Solidarity of Children,is a Nepalise NGO, established in 2008 in the district of Kathmandu. It has been working for the welfare of woman and children, giving them education support, vocational training, psychological counseling, micro grant, capacity building training for the staffs as well as to the community people, awareness program in health and sanitation, medical check-up, child right issue etc.
Society for Solidarity of Children is working in Jadibuti area (near International Airport) where is running a Day Care Center especially for children from the poor families and it is the community’s base project.
At moment we are working as partner with Amici dei Bambini (international NGO) in the project Jal Jeevan day-care centre: “service support for the community, for a better future for the children and for the families at Jadibuti” (the project is started the first June 2010, and it lasts in May 2012). The international volunteers can participate in the following activities:
Teaching to the pre-primary level children and animation,
Maternity and nutrition food,
Regular health check –up to the children as well as the parents (data collection),
English language course for the community of Jadibuti,
For writing project proposal as well as report writing,
Fund-raising
Requirement qualification and experience for the candidates:
Academic preparation and qualification
Excellent quality of interpersonal skills
Creativeness and flexibility
Ability to work either in team or autonomous manner
Good knowledge in English
Cost for the participation in the program: 200.00 $ a month, which includes: pick-up at airport, internet facilities and lunch.
Options for breakfast, dinner and accommodation:
-          Café de Patan Guest house for 7.00 $ per day (breakfast and accommodation)
-          International volunteers could also stay at board member’s house paying 300.00 $ per month (accommodation, breakfast and dinner included).
