Missione Italia

 

Italian mission started its activities in 1999 when Doctors Without Borders (MSF) has realized that the same people treated and witnessed at thousands of kilometers away were often in precarious conditions and need just in Italy. In these years they were held activity aimed at providing medical care to immigrants in the area, even without a valid permit od stay.

 

Recently in Italy, as in other countries of the world and the Mediterranean (Libya, Egypt, Greece), the interventions were structured based on the emergence of specific needs.

 

Since 2016 MSF-Italian Mission is active on various projects:

  • in Rome, manages a rehabilitation center for people victims of torture;
  • in Catania, is going to open a residential center for post-acute care for asylum seekers;
  • in the Mediterranean Sea, conducts a rescue mission for people who cross the Mediterranean in search of a refuge in Europe;
  • in the province of Trapani, lends psycho-social support to the guests of the CAS and offers a transcultural psychotherapy services in collaboration with ASP structures;
  • in Italy, monitors the situation and the needs of the population on the move and provides aid to people involved in traumatic landings with emergency PFA team (Psychological First Aid);

 

Main Purpose

 

Provide support to the project guaranteeing the administrative fulfillments and the financial management related to the daily and extraordinary activity.

 

Accountabilities

 

Administration and Human Resources

  • Manages local contracts (rental housing/office, utilities, etc etc) and the regular contacts with local suppliers;
  • Supports the Project Coordinator in the management of daily administrative activities;

 

 

  • Manages the administration of human resources: recruitment, contracts, follow-up, Per Diem, reimbursement, holidays etc etc;
  • Supports the team's movements and visitors (travel bookings, hotel, ...);
  • With the support of the HrCo and Pam ensures the implementation of the correct administrative procedures of the project.

 

Finance (accountancy, budget and treasury)

  • It is responsible for local accounts: detailed expenditure records by entering the accounting lines according to MSF internal procedures;
  • With the support of the Coordinator of Finance and Accounting Manager, manages the SAGA accounting software and it’s responsible for local accounting and entering in SAGA;
  • Provides all the relevant information on the budget and monitoring to the Project Coordinator and the Finance Coordinator;
  • Ensures the timing on administrative reports and the transmission of accounting and financial documents to the Finance Coordinator;
  • Prepare monthly reports for cash and bank;
  • Ensures liquidity to the project, checking the cash flows and sending monthly cash resquest;

 

Procedures

  • It is responsible for ensuring that all payments, expenditure commitments etc ... all internal procedures MSF are complied (validation and signatures);

 

Communication

  • Ensures the constant and timely update to the Project Coordinator and the Coordinators of Administration and Finance on the administrative, financial, project logistics issue;
  • Send regular reports according to the deadlines established by the Project Coordinator, as far as it competence;
