INTERSOS

INTERSOS is an independent non-profit humanitarian organization committed to assist the victims of natural disasters and armed conflicts. Its activities are based on the principles of solidarity, justice, human dignity, equality of rights and opportunities, and respect for diversity and coexistence, paying special attention to the most vulnerable and unprotected people.

INTERSOS has been present in Afghanistan since October 2001, with its main office in Kabul and Sub Offices in Jalalabad, Maimana, Kandahar, Heart and Lashkar Gah.
INTERSOS has worked on various aspects of the Afghan emergency, with a main focus on repatriation and returns, water and sanitation, reconstruction, humanitarian demining, mine risk education, and institutional building.
INTERSOS has also taken an active role in the rehabilitation of the water and sanitation sector in the provinces where INTERSOS has operated. This strategic sector was a focus of INTERSOS’s work in order to create the conditions for the return of IDPs to their places of origin, and to avoid further displacement of drought affected rural communities Country wide activities supporting the vulnerable have led the organisation to support the empowerment of the government to assist the most vulnerable categories of the population, as well as to monitor the performance of the government in this regard.

INTERSOS, in the framework of its activities in Afghanistan, is currently selecting candidates for the following position.

JOB TITLE: Project manager in child protection

DUTY STATION: Heart (with movement on Kabul and Baghdis)

DURATION OF THE ASSIGNMENT: 6 months

STARTING DATE: 10 September 2010

ROLE, TASK AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Project manager represent INTERSOS with Project stakeholders and donors, in agreement and on the basis of the Head of Mission’s indications. of the overall supervision of the project and will deal primarily with the key institutions and donors. He/she will organize and supervise training sessions in all planned child protection and child rights issues. He/she will also be responsible for conducting all analytical reports/trends analysis regarding the deportee children/street and working children.
Specifically he/she is responsible to:
-    Maintain the relationship with the donors and the local partner
-    Participate to the main meeting concerning the project of his/her responsibility
-    Follow up the possibility for new project proposal and write it.
-    management of the project assigned to him/her and of all implementation phases, on the basis of the orientation and supervision of the Head of Mission.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
-    Degree in Social Science preferable.
-    At least 2 years work experience, including substantial work experience working in protection/child protection related area.
-    Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
-    Ability to listen; ability to find and communicate accurate information concerning process, policies and procedures.
-    High integrity and accountability in all aspects of project financial management.
-    Experience in other donor funded projects would be an advantage.
-    Ability to work in a multi-sector team and be able to work with minimal supervision;
-    Computer literacy (Knowledge of Accounting Software would be necessary).
